Maxwell Kaltungo Lede, outgoing Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Katsina State, has formally bid farewell to the command, the state government, and the people of Katsina following his redeployment to the National Headquarters in Abuja as the new Corps Intelligence Officer. The move, approved by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed mni, is part of the FRSC’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen intelligence coordination, and reposition the Corps for improved service delivery nationwide.
The official handing-over ceremony took place at the RS1.3 Sector Command Headquarters in Katsina, marking the conclusion of Lede’s tenure and the assumption of office by AH Ibrahim as the new Sector Commander. Ibrahim was welcomed with a Quarter Guard of Honour mounted by the command, symbolising respect and recognition.
During the ceremony, Ibrahim pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, promising to uphold the Corps’ mandate while working with the existing operational frameworks. He described Lede’s appointment as Corps Intelligence Officer as a “perfect fit” and commended his leadership, noting that his name is synonymous with success and excellence in road safety management and administration.
In his valedictory address, Commander Lede reflected on his tenure, expressing gratitude to the Corps Marshal for the trust placed in him and to the officers and men of the RS1.3 Katsina Sector Command for their dedication. He said:
"The successes recorded during my tenure are not the achievements of an individual but the result of collective dedication, teamwork, sacrifice, and discipline. Day and night, often under demanding operational conditions, you demonstrated professionalism, courage, and resilience in carrying out the mandate of the Corps."
Lede also acknowledged the contributions of stakeholders, including the media, transport unions, civil society organizations, traditional and religious leaders, and the general public, whose collaboration strengthened road safety campaigns and public enlightenment programmes across the state.
He further praised the Katsina State government and residents for creating a conducive environment for the Corps to operate effectively, adding:
"Your support, cooperation, and goodwill greatly strengthened our ability to deliver on our mandate."
As he prepares for his new role in Abuja, Lede urged officers to maintain unity, discipline, and professionalism, assuring them of a promising future under the leadership of Commander Ibrahim.
He concluded his farewell with gratitude:
"I leave Katsina State with pride in what we have achieved together. My tour of duty here as Sector Commander is truly a story of shared success. God bless the Federal Road Safety Corps. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria."
